Zerk / Pricing model

Maintenance software priced per machine, not per user

A maintenance system needs the people doing the work, not just the person planning it. Many maintenance platforms charge per user. Zerk Pro charges per maintained asset and includes unlimited users. Your bill follows the machines you maintain, not the number of mechanics and operators who need a login.

The bill follows your maintained assets

A maintained asset is an asset with a PM plan, a certification or a meter. Everything else in your register is free.

That distinction matters when your register holds more than the machines in daily service. Count the assets that have one of those maintenance records, rather than assuming every item on your equipment list adds to the bill. A parked machine still counts if it has a PM plan, a certification or a meter. Where it is standing does not change that definition.

Pro includes unlimited users. Adding a mechanic or operator does not add another user charge. Check the homepage pricing section for current plans, starting prices and asset allowances. Those details come from the same pricing configuration used across the site.

Let the people doing the work record it

A mechanic knows which part was replaced and what the repair took. An operator knows the current reading and what the machine was doing when a problem appeared. Asking both to pass everything through one office login creates another handoff before the record reaches the shop.

On Pro, every mechanic and operator can have a login. Service can be recorded where it happens, and the history stays with the unit. You do not have to decide which person gets a seat simply to keep the user count down.

Unlimited users is a pricing rule, not a reason to give everyone the same responsibilities. The point is to make room for the crew that needs to log work. Start with the people taking readings, completing services and planning the next job, then decide how your shop will use those records.

What Zerk is built around

The pricing model is only part of the decision. Zerk is built around equipment maintenance: readings, service records, inspection dates and the cost of keeping a unit working.

Meters

Hours and kilometres tell the shop how much work a machine has done. Plan service around those readings alongside dates. See preventive maintenance by engine hours and kilometres for the interval, last-service reading and next-due calculation.

Certificates

Inspection records belong with the machine, even when it moves between jobs. Keep expiry dates visible with countdowns and reminders before they lapse. Read about equipment inspection and certificate tracking.

Cost per machine

On Pro, see cost per asset, cost per hour and the repair-versus-replace picture. A fleet total tells you what the shop spent. Looking at the unit helps you understand where that money went.

Who Zerk fits

Zerk fits contractors, road builders, highway maintenance, excavation, aggregates and other equipment-heavy fleets. It is for shops that need the maintenance picture to follow the machine, rather than live in a spreadsheet or one person’s inbox.

For the broader picture, read maintenance software built for heavy equipment. You can start free with the asset registry, work orders and a single PM plan, with no card needed. Starter includes spreadsheet import; on Pro, AI suggests column matches for your review.

If you want to help shape the product as you bring your fleet in, the Founding Fleet page explains that program and what it asks of participating shops.

Compare the models with your own numbers

Per-user pricing and per-asset pricing answer different questions. Which costs less depends on your crew size versus your fleet size. A small crew maintaining a large fleet will see different numbers from a larger crew sharing fewer machines. Neither model is automatically the cheaper one for every shop.

Make two lists: the people who need to record or plan work, and the assets with a PM plan, a certification or a meter. Price both models using those lists and current plan terms. Include mechanics and operators in the headcount, not just office users. That gives you a comparison based on the way your fleet actually works.

Questions, answered

What is a maintained asset?

A maintained asset is an asset with a PM plan, a certification or a meter. Everything else in your register is free.

How many users does Pro include?

Pro includes unlimited users, so mechanics and operators can have their own logins without another user charge.

Does parked equipment count?

Yes, if it has a PM plan, a certification or a meter. Being parked does not remove it from the maintained-asset count.

How do I estimate the cost of my fleet?

Count maintained assets using the definition above, then use the current plans and allowances in the [[#pricing|homepage pricing section]]. Do not use your total register count unless every item qualifies.

Can I start free?

Yes. Zerk is free to start with no card needed. Add your machines and review the pricing model before deciding on a paid plan.
